Preliminary Task

This is my first video that I produced on DDD which I created with my group, by using the school's equipment to start to develop an understanding on how to produce and then develop a clip. The video follows a simple storyline about a school girl failing to complete work and struggling with school life. We wanted to stick with a basic storyline as we felt getting the shots and final cuts perfect was the key element get right first and then as are knowledge progresses we could create a more complex storyline.   The video contains a range of different shots such as; long shot, panning and closeup by using a tripod to ensure the quality was high and was more stable. Then we developed the video on a program called Final Cut. The cuts created on the program makes the video flow more and creates a bit of tension. The non diegetic sound was found on a copyright free site 'Completech', which I found made the film more interesting and linked with the storyline creating an understanding of the storyline towards the audience. The text at the beginning of the video was created on 'LiveType' which was a new experience for me using the site, lucky it was very quick and simple to use and connected straight to FinalCut if I wanted to improve it. I feel the title makes the audience follow the storyline better and creates a link to all Mise en scent.

From completing this task I have a good knowledge on what its like to film a movie to ensure I include all effected shots, sounds and effects. I have learnt how to edit a movie on programs such as FinalCut Express and create titles on Livetype also including non diegetic sound which all creates affect towards the audience.

In this task I have realise I need to manage my organisation skills better by ensuring I plan before creating the video by making a storyline to follow to ensure I can plan each scene to have a high standard overall product, also I would get each member of my group a perspective task which they have more talent in to speed up the film making process. I need to ensure I save my files onto a hard drive as I lost some stages of editing when it didn't save properly meaning I had to repeat the editing stages again which slow down the process of finishing the film.

Introduction

This is my first year taking Media as a AS subject, however I've always had an interest in films and the way they're produced. I always love watching movies and making little videos in my own time, so I was aware of all the new technology and genre of movies which are in the market already. When starting Media I began to gain an understanding of the different techniques to do with the film industry and how to produce a good quality product which will have success with the audience.
