Editing: Rough Cut
Jade and I thought it would be very important to add a rough cut of our opening film to give an idea of what our opening film will look like and to see where to improve. The rough cut has a few titles and a soundtrack from our research. We wanted to experiment to see whether the soundtrack works with the opening and helps to flow the movie to shot to shot. We wanted to ensure we got a clear understanding on the order of the shots to make changes if needed.
Editing- Soundtrack
We agreed it is hard to decide a soundtrack to link to the top conventions when the opening film isn't completed to we decided its for the best to research and discover the type of music we like and think is most suitable for our opening film before we rust in to finding a soundtrack which doesn't link to what we want the audience to feel. We wanted to edit the movie and complete it before choosing the soundtrack to create more affect and bring it to a high standard.
Audience Feedback On Chosen Titles
We decided to interview our target audience on our chosen titles to listen to their feedback and to improve if necessary. This was to see whether our audience liked the titles or not and to see what to make different to make the titles create an impact.
We first interviewed Sam on his opinions on our chosen titles:
Overall we have decided to listen to Chloe's feedback as it links to our convention and audience. We felt the title will have greater impact and be more realistic on the left and doesn't over power the narrative. Also the white colour is more realistic and links to the ghost present rather than reds or black and they won't have a contrast with the filters on the shots.
Editing: Titles
This process went well as we manage to gain feed back response and come up with titles quickly because the site was easy and fast to use. We created the font as Apple Cearey which looks effective because it links to conventions and the idea of the past. The white colour was used to standout and show importance towards the audience. A fade in and out effect was used to show a ghost presents and link to the genre of supernatural horror.
Editing:Process
When the editing stage came we decided to edit the film by putting the shots in order and seeing what works. The site of Final Cut Express is much easier to edit our movie on as it clearly shows the processes and steps we have taken to make a high standard opening movie. We thought it would be easier to play the footage we had and then to make further improvements. The site is easy to save and import/export files onto our blog to show the processes made.

Evaluation Of Filming
Jade and I decided there is no better way to explain our whole filming process of our opening film but with a video decusing elements such as; Teamwork, Risk Assessment, Weather, Shots, Roles and Storyboard changes.
Production: Elimination Of Mise en scene Elements
My previous posts of different mise en scene elements of blackout contact lenses and black wax for teeth. Heres a quick reminder on this elements:
When filming on the second day we discovered that the mise en scene wasn't as effective as we thought. They didn't really show up and link to our narrative. We didn't want the audience getting confused with the narrative and we wanted them to stick with the genre of Super natural horror. Due to this elimination we had to deleted the scene and decided to carry on the narrative to make it connect with the audience more. The lighting when filming this scene with the mise en scene wasn't affective and made it look fake and unrealistic therefore Jade and myself feel it was a wise decision to make as producers we wanted to make the opening film become a high standard and have affect on the audience.

Production: Development/Tester Shots
Before filming our whole opening scene we wanted to ensure that our shots were at a high standard, therefore we decided to produce some establishing shots. This we help us become more confident with what shots we want and understanding the camera more. We noted down a few shots we wanted to use and improve. This makes us more confident with our opening as we are able to experiment and change different shots to make them become at a high standard.
Here is a few Establishing shots we tested and may use:

Production: Audience Giving Feedback On Chosen Ident
This interview ensures Jade and I that the idea is suitable for our opening film and matches the conventions of a super supernatural horror. Getting this feedback allows us to know whether it links to our target audience and to ensure our ident is at a high standard.
Interview-
Interview-
Chosen Ident For "Inner Demon"
Our chosen Ident we wanted to use the idea of a black cat as we feel it links to the genre of supernatural horror and shows a connection with audience. We know this ident makes the audience aware of the company that produced the movie that what we wanted to do. I like how its quick and bold to show an importance without overpowering the narrative.
Interview Of Audience Giving Feedback On Ident Ideas
We decided to get feedback from the audience which matches our opening film to see what she thought about our Ident ideas and whether it matches our audience and chosen genre. This makes us more confident with our final ident ideas and pushes us further on with the opening film. The ident is important for the audience to see who produces the film.

Production: Ident - Establishing Shot Ideas
Although the picture quality isn't the best, this doesn't better as the ident will only show for a few seconds. The idea of the cat looking away from the camera creates tension with the audience as they don't know when she will look at the camera. Her beaming yellow eyes create a sense of horror with the audience linking to our theme of supernatural horror. The extreme close-up shot allows the audience see the face in more detail and the audience to connect.
This shot is effective as it builds tension in the audience and shows the characteristics of the cat suggesting she is the antagonist. This helps the audience to connect with the type of film this our going to watch and the genre of supernatural horror. The medium shot of her allows the audience to see the whole main focus (cat), shows the cat is the most important element in this shot.
Production: Chosen Ident- Meet Tilly The Cat
Jade and I knew it is crucial to include an ident in our opening scene to make it look professional and connect the audience to who produced the film. From the previous planning and researching in to many different indents we came up with an creative idea which links to our target audience and our genre of Supernatural Horror.
As we own a black cat we thought it would represent the idea and and an icon of horror as it links to witches being supernatural and halloween. We started taking different shots in order to find the appropriate and most effective one for our opening scene.
The pictures on the left is our black cat that we want to use for our indent. I think her eyes make her standout and look like an icon of horror. The black coat has a nice contrast with the bright yellow eyes. We also chose to use our cat because she meows when we say her name, which will make the shots easier as she will meow at the appurate time. The ambient sound will make it more mrsty and antagonist like for the audience creating tension and the sense of horror.

Production: Software
Before we started editing our opening film we had to look for the right software which will we most suitable for the editing of our opening film. We wanted to ensure the software would make our opening be at a high standard. Using the right software allows us to complete the editing stage quickly and complete with more ease than other programmes.
Editing Programme-
Software-Final Cut Pro
We chose this programme to edit our opening scene because we have both got experience using this programme from creating short videos showing establishing shots. We thought it was the best software to show our journey and to ease the stage of editing to appeal to our target audience.
Soundtrack Programme-
Software- Soundtrack Pro
We chose this programme to edit our score for our opening film. We chose this program because we have previous experience with this programme so it will be produced more quickly and we will have more confidence with what we our doing. We feel it is important to create a good score and create effect ambient sounds because it has a huge effect on the audience.
Credits Programme-
We chose LiveType to create our titles and credits because we felt the layout was easy to follow and we would be more confident creating more advanced titles. We have got experience with using this programme before with our first preliminary task so we can understand and develop our skills. The title is a huge importance in the opening as it makes the audience aware of the characters and to understand the narrative, therefore we need to produce it to a high standard.
Recording Programme-
Software- GarageBand
We decided to choose this programme to record our score because we felt it was easy to understand and follow. we wanted to record the ambient sound without getting any unwanted sound from the wind etc, the programme allows us to mute the unwanted sound to make the ambient sound perfect. This type of score is important as it makes it more realistic and builds tension with the audience.

Production: Chosen Title For 'Inner Demon'
Chosen Title-
From the advice we gathered from our chosen target audience we decided to choose the following title for our film because we felt it links to the conventions of a super natural horror. From the interview we felt the font was clear and creates an impact on the audience. We also felt it was bold and doesn't over power the narrative but still shows an importance. We decided to have the titles placed on the left sides on the shots to look effective and not over power the narrative. We wanted the film to have the 'Inner Demon' title in the middle because we felt it makes the audience aware of the importance of the words. We decided on the fade in and out effect because its realistic and links to the genre of supernatural horror, without confusing the audience with a unrealistic. We got inspired by this famous opening- The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug:
We wanted to make it as realistic as possible, we found many opening films with the actors names in the middle of the screen which instantly links the audience to a homemade video and doesn't show as much impact and realistic elements as other opening films. Here is an example of an opening film that are unrealistic and have the actors and production company in the middle of the screen: Batman Returns-
Production: Video Showing Audience Favorite Title
We decided to interview a few of our target audience to make us clear of what type of title style we will chose for our opening film. This is to make sure the style matches our target audience and links to the genre of super natural horror.

Production: Title Idea 3
This title is effective because it links to our genre of supernatural horror and has a sense of fear towards the audience. The colour will be white to show a sense of ghost like presents and allows the audience to link with the narrative and the mystery possible ideas the producer has. I love the fade effect as it shows a ghostly present and shows with the audience. The colour white shows a sense of supernatural and doesn't confuse the audience. The colour makes the narrative clear and doesn't over power, this shows the title is important but still shows the narrative clearly.
Production: Title Idea 2
This is our second idea we created in LiveType. The Maroon colour makes the title standout from the dark background, showing audience the main focus and the importance of the title. The font is a crackly effect, linking to the idea of old and a historical event. This represents my genre of Supernatural Horror as the font is ghostly like and instantly shows the audience a link to the genre making them work out the narrative. The size is simple and not to over powering, making the audience understand the narrative.

Production: Title Idea 1
We wanted to look at a range of titles to help us decide what will match with our opening film. From the research I have gathered, looking at different opening titles from the same genre as our opening film. We began to look at what will work for our opening and came up with several ideas which we thought would suit our opening the most.
This first idea shows a sense of mystery with the white text creating a ghost like feel linking to the genre of Supernatural Horror and shows a link to the narrative. The white colour will show a contrast to the dark woodland background, making the title standout and shows the audience that the title is important. The font makes the text link to an icon of historical importance and shows a link to the opening film perhaps not todays present date, informing the audience that the opening may link to a past event. The size is perfect as it doesn't overpower the narrative however it still standout. The effect we chose a fade in and out effect shows a link to super natural creatures, linking to ghosts fading and creates mystery with the audience.
Filming: Day 3
Here is a quick summary of our filming on the day, weather and health and safety processes to be aware of. We both agreed it would be easier to explain through a video:
New Location 4- House
From my previous posts I explained how the contact lenses and wax didn't look affective enough for our opening film so we decided to plan more of our final scene. We both decided the house location is a perfect location to end the film. We took a few photos to give an idea of the location and how it will fit in with our film. Here are the photos of location 4.

Filming: Day 2
We manage to do a few shots of Jade with the mise en scene of blackout lenses and black wax for the teeth, however it wasn't what we planned as they didn't look affective, they didn't show and weren't clear. We didn't want the narrative to be confusing to follow and not to change the audiences tension and impact of the opening. We decided to finish the day of filming and plan more of an idea and narrative, instead of going out and filming random stuff we needed an idea of what we would do next.

Update: Last Shots To Film
Unfortunately we have not been able to film this week due to our brother's busy schedule and the fact he has taken his filming equipment with him, therefore we hope to finish the final scene next week or over the weekend. We will consult with him the best time possible and create a new call sheet to help us plan and get organized before the date to ensure everything runs smoothly. In the mean time we are working on a brief editing of the starting shots up to the final scene to keep on track and see what we can improve so we can reshoot if needed on the final scene filming day.
Just purchased some Mise en scene products
In order to get our filming complete we had to buy theses Mise en scene products to make our opening appeal to the genre and look realistic. We felt theses products were most appropriate as they link to our narrative and show a good link to super natural horror. Theses products has put us a few days behind schedule due to the fact we needed to what for the weekend to collect them, however we felt it was an important process to make in order to push the opening to a high quality.
Make-up- Teeth Wax:
We wanted to find a product that will make the Protagonist quickly turn to a supernatural creature, creating affect and huge impact. The wax comes out to create black looking teeth which creates mystery towards the audience and links to a supernatural being. All the other teeth products looked fake and we wanted the character to look very realistic and make the audience scared so we felt this was the best product to use.
Black-out Contact Lenses-
Although theses lenses were a lot out of our budge we felt it was a well purchased product because we know they are reliable as other films have used the same mise en scent such as; paranormal activity. Theses link to the genre of Super natural horror and create a mystery towards the audience. I love the idea of the black eyes with the characters pale face as it creates a great colour contrast. The product also shows a link to darkness and death, connecting with horror. Perhaps showing danger and a ghostly like presents haunting over the protagonist.

Filming:Day One- Progress
We felt there is no better way to explain how the filming went than a video update with us explaining:
Day One Filming
We manage to get a lot of shots filmed as the lighting was perfect, the weather was nice but a bit foggy so we had to be careful of the running scenes and become aware of the safety issues. We only got around 10 shots completed because it started getting dark so we didn't want the lighting to effect the quality of our film. Therefore we decided to leave the rest of the shots for another day. A call sheet will be uploaded soon.
