Production: Ident - Establishing Shot Ideas

Before filming our Indent we wanted to have the right shot so we decided to experiment with different establishing shots to see the most effective one which is appropriate for our opening film. We decided on the following two ideas to use. From then one we will get feedback from our target audience by creating a questionnaire to decide the most effective shot to use.

Although the picture quality isn't the best, this doesn't better as the ident will only show for a few seconds. The idea of the cat looking away from the camera creates tension with the audience as they don't know when she will look at the camera. Her beaming yellow eyes create a sense of horror with the audience linking to our theme of supernatural horror. The extreme close-up shot allows the audience see the face in more detail and the audience to connect.

This shot is effective as it builds tension in the audience and shows the characteristics of the cat suggesting she is the antagonist. This helps the audience to connect with the type of film this our going to watch and the genre of supernatural horror. The medium shot of her allows the audience to see the whole main focus (cat), shows the cat is the most important element in this shot.
